New Year, New Beginning
Frank Phillips softball looks to return to the Region V West Tournament for the second year in a row, under the direction of new head coach Lucas Grider. Grider, who was the assistant coach last year, returns seven sophomores from last year’s team, who made the region tournament for the first time in school history.
Returners Arleen Alamanza, Christina Florence, Cheyenne Ford, Sabrina Martinez, Ashlie Odle, Breanna O’Leary, and Janelle Smith along with transfer sophomore Christine Blankenship will provide the leadership to our talented group of freshmen. Freshmen Ashley Abair, Kylie Boyd, Marlena Cisneros, Madlin Dorhofer, Deidre Foree, Madilyne Logan, Lucinda Ponce, Brianna Rodriguez, Jill Walker, and Traysha Walker will need to contribute to help make this a successful season.
Field and facility rennovations are still ongoing at Linn Energy Field at Johnson Park. A concession stand and restroom facility is being constructed with plans in the works for windscreens, new dugouts, bleachers, press box and batting cages.
The FPC Softball team is also very active in the community promoting the sport of softball and Frank Phillips College. Some of the activities include working with Habitat for Humanity, ringing bells for the Salvation Army, and volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House.
