Completing your FAFSA

FAFSA – Free Application for Student Financial Aid & Other Required Documents

You can submit the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov or obtain a copy from the Student Financial Services Office or a high school guidance office. The U.S. Department of Education evaluates your FAFSA and provides a Student Aid Report to the colleges you list on your application.

Step 1. Complete FAFSA

  • Apply for a pin at www.pin.ed.gov
  • Student who has previously attended college – Submit copies of college transcripts with your financial aid application.
  • Submit the FAFSA as soon as possible starting January 1. (Your application can take up to six weeks to process, so don’t delay!)
  • List FPC’s school code – 003568.
  • Complete the FAFSA using your, and if applicable, your parent’s income tax return from the previous year.
  • Follow the instructions carefully and do not leave any blanks.

FPC should be able to access your Student Aid Report within three to five days from the date you submitted your online FASA to the Processing Center.  .  You may contact FPC’s Student Financial Services office to confirm the status of your file.

Step 2. Submit additional documents as requested by Student Financial Services.

Step 3. Verify your information if requested.

  • A Verification Worksheet
  • Documentation that verifies benefits or untaxed income  (such as TANF, Social Security Benefits or Workmen’s compensation)

Step 4. Await Notification

The Financial Services Office will send a letter notifying you when your application has been processed. If you are eligible for aid, you will receive an offer at that time. Your letter will arrive at the e-mail/address listed on your FAFSA.  You may e-mail required forms to SFS@fpctx.edu, thank you.
